Pilates (pronounced pi-lah-tees) originates from exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. He focused on strengthening deep abdominal, shoulder, hip and back muscles to gain core strength and improve body alignment. The principles of his exercises remain today.
Pilates is a series of stretching and strengthening exercises designed to condition your body’s core. The exercises are specifically aimed at preventing back pain and recovery from back pain.
At Posture Dynamics we specialise in teaching the STOTT PILATES method. This method of Pilates has exercises designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints. The method focuses on the following five basic principles:
- Pelvic Placement
- Ribcage placement
- Scapular movement

Why Pilates At Posture Dynamics?
At Posture Dynamics the Pilates instructors and Osteopaths work closely together. By understanding in detail your biomechanics and where your strengths and weaknesses are in your posture, our Osteopaths and Pilates instructors can devise a program of exercises that are specific to your needs.
Pilates is often an integrated service within our specialist clinics for the Sports Performance clinic or Pre and Post Natal Clinic.
We offer classes which are run with a maximum number of 8 per class. This is to ensure that the instructor can specifically see to the individual needs of all attending the class. As an alternative to the classes, we are able to offer one-on-one private pilates sessions. The private individual sessions are aimed at clients who need and want greater individual attention. We have no membership fee or joining fee.
